I'm generally amiable in a quietly extrovert kind of way. Oh yes - I play keyboards and guitar not saxaphone...and I don't usually wear sunglasses

Shameless self promotion - Indigo Club is my band! It would be really nice to get some feedback / constructive criticism. Also, if there are any bass players and percussionists who can rehearse/gig around Bristol we would love to hear from you.

Lou Rhodes is an exceptional songwriter and musician. Her "Beloved One" album is one of my top 10 all time favourite recordings.

"Collected" - a retrospective selection of some of the best Massive Attack tracks of the last 10 years. Superbly mastered recordings.
Worth buying just for the new track "live with me" featuring Terry Callier

What's in a name?

Winter Olympics -Turin or Torino?

Lorenzo Bertolotto writes:
I was born in Turin and lived there for 15 years.
The fact of you chosing "torino" instead of Turin bothers me a lot.
The names of all towns with centennial history have always being translated in the other languages. Roma has become Rome, Firenze has become Florence, London in italian is Londra, New York in spanish is Neuva York, Lisboa became Lisbon.
The fact that cities have different names in other languages also shows that they are towns with history and cultural patrimony. Calling Turin Torino is, according to me, a way to say that it is only important for the olympics and it was born only because of the olympics, ignoring the bimillenial hisory, the glorious days of Savoys, the roman, medieval and baroque ages.
By the way, Turin is not an english form of Torino, but Torino is an italian version of the piedmontese (dialect of the region) Turin (with the accent on the "i". Turin is a much more ancient name than Torino, all historic maps (also italian ones) have on Turin instead of Torino, and there are still people in the region that call the town Turin (with the accent on the "i"), so if they wanted to keep the original name they should have called them the Turin Olympics with the accent on the i.
if they kept the italian name for Turin, why didn't they also use the italian name for Olympics, and call them Olimpiadi diTorino?
Why don't they begin to speak italian during all the olympic period? that seems a good idea: just like the locals do!

Q: How many Microsoft types does it take to change a light bulb?
A: One, but the bulb will go off now and then for no reason. You will have to disconnect your house from the mains and reconnect to turn it back on. Sometimes it will not go off, same repair procedure. The upgrade, which is a bit more bright, will cost you $111 and you will need new switches, new wires and a new bulb holder. You will have to upgrade sooner or later because the type of electricity is going to be changed and its not compatible with the old type of bulb. You cannot get the electricity anywhere else and Microsoft own it. Sometimes the bulb will disconnect you from the mains without warning, but it will tell you, when you have got it back on, that you have committed an illegal act and suggest that it's all your fault for not turning the light off properly. Get a candle.
